About Us

MaKeBa was founded in 2021 by Sakshi and Malvika, textile designers from Lady Irwin College – Delhi University, with a vision to build an Earth-friendly, Sustainable, and Homegrown clothing initiative.

We are deeply committed to Environmental Sustainability and actively work to Reduce Textile Waste by crafting Thoughtfully Designed Upcycled Products using leftover fabric.

We collaborate with Skilled Artisans from Dehradun, Uttarakhand to curate a range of Sustainable, Eco-friendly, and Organic Clothing, along with handcrafted upcycled items such as Diaries, Buntings/Torans, Bags, and more.

Our mission is to Promote Mindful Fashion, Support Artisan Livelihoods, and encourage Conscious Consumerism.

Our Story

Our story began long before MaKeBa had a name—rooted in the gentle hands of our Mother and Naani ji, who stitched clothes for their daughters with love, creativity, and effortless skill. They were the true designers of our home, crafting silhouettes that blended Simplicity with Grace. Their artistry shaped our earliest understanding of Intricate Weaves, Fabric Quality, and Timeless Silhouettes.

As teenagers, we struggled to find readymade outfits that felt truly “us,” so we began customising our own garments—Experimenting, Exploring, and discovering our Unique design voice. This passion eventually led us to study Textile Designing at the University of Delhi, where our foundation in Colour, Fabric, and Craft was built.

In 2021, our homegrown brand MaKeBa was born— inspired by its literal meaning “She who brings joy,” celebrating the Richness, Vibrance, and Warmth of Indian Heritage through contemporary silhouettes. The name blends “Sa” and “Ma”, an amalgamation of our identities and a subtle nod to the harmonious Sargam.

As our journey unfolded, we found ourselves surrounded by beautiful leftover fabric scraps—Too Meaningful to Discard. Guided by our belief in Mindful Creation, we embraced a Zero-waste Philosophy and launched an Upcycled, Handcrafted Collection, giving these remnants a second life.

Our journey continues, driven by the desire to craft Increasingly Sustainable Products for those who believe in us.
